Did You Know?

- For the first time in more than three years, national home prices slipped year over year. Redfin reports the median U.S. home sale price was $389,601 for the four weeks ending October 25, down 0.1% from a year ago, and more than 21% of active listings nationally have taken a price cut. For Bronx buyers, the takeaway is growing leverage: there are hundreds of thousands more home sellers than buyers nationwide, giving buyers more negotiating power than they have had in over a decade. - The Northeast is carrying the housing market right now. In the National Association of Realtors’ third-quarter report, home prices rose in 78% of U.S. metro areas, and the Northeast led all regions with a 4% gain, pushing the median home price to $561,500. Nationally, the median single-family existing-home price rose 1.7% from a year ago to $432,900, and chief economist Lawrence Yun notes the average American home has appreciated by $146,000 over the past seven years. Good news for Riverdale sellers: our region is one of the strongest in the country. (Realtor.com)
