Marble Hill Carriage House Featured on House Hunting (YouTube)! – 42 1/2 Adrian Avenue

Our listing at 42 1/2 Adrian Avenue just got the TV treatment. The YouTube show House Hunting toured the Marble Hill carriage house alongside a Hudson Heights apartment, and Geoff gave the on-camera walkthrough. Here is how the episode played out, what the buyer loved, and which home she picked.

The popular YouTube series House Hunting came to Marble Hill, and our listing at 42 1/2 Adrian Avenue was one of the homes in the spotlight. The episode, “What $950K Gets Me in NYC | Uptown Battle: Hudson Heights vs Marble Hill,” follows buyer Cassidy as she tours two homes with a $1 million budget, and Geoff gives the on-camera tour of ours.

You can watch the full episode below.

The setup

Cassidy has lived in New York for 10 years and currently lives on the Upper East Side. She is looking for 2 bedrooms, room to entertain, and ideally a modern building with amenities, but she is open to something with more character. The show pits two uptown neighborhoods against each other: a modern 2-bedroom in Hudson Heights and our carriage-house-style home in Marble Hill, which is technically Manhattan, even though you cross a bridge to get there.

Geoff greets Cassidy at the door and takes her upstairs, starting with the kitchen, which got one of the biggest reactions of the episode. The green smooth countertops stopped her in her tracks, and she noted there is room for two people to cook side by side, which flows right into the large dining room.

Then came the backyard. The private garden earned words like “so charming” and “picturesque,” and Cassidy kept saying she could not believe they were still in Manhattan.

Upstairs, Geoff shows the full bathroom with its skylight and a shower head Cassidy had never seen anything like, the large primary bedroom with three big windows and gorgeous morning light, and the Jack and Jill closet connecting the primary and second bedrooms, a detail she called “so cool.” The third bedroom, she decided on the spot, would make a perfect office.

The tour wraps in the basement with the storage area and the dedicated garage. “You never get these in Manhattan,” Cassidy says. “To have a dedicated parking spot and additional storage in New York City is something very special.”

The verdict

In the end, Cassidy picked neither home, and was honest about why. The Marble Hill house was “beautiful” and “dripping in charm,” but a little too much space for where her life is at right now. She loved the Hudson Heights apartment’s amenities, rooftop, and modern finishes, but did not get the gut feeling either one was her place. She is keeping her search going.

We will take “dripping in charm” all day long.
